INFORMATION ABOUT THE JOURNAL AND THE ACADEMY OF LEGAL STUDIES IN BUSINESS
The Journal of Legal Studies Education (JLSE) is a publication of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business (ALSB.ORG). Founded in 1924, the ALSB is an association of teachers and scholars in the fields of business law, legal environment, and law-related courses outside of professional law schools. Its members teach primarily in schools of business in colleges and universities, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Article types

ORIGINAL RESEARCH ARTICLES
The editorial board selects high quality manuscripts that are of interest to a substantial portion of the journal’s readers. The editors look for: innovative ideas, some element of novelty, good writing, and evidence of an appropriate literature survey. Authors should note how their article contributes to the pedagogy of business law. (Note: for the “Literature Review” section, the JLSE’s Wiley website has a search tool for searching just JLSE publications: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/17441722. Click in the search box at the top, and make sure that the “This Journal” option on the left is selected.)

TEACHING NOTES
The editorial board will also consider teaching notes on the subject of business law. These notes should offer timely, constructive, practical, novel classroom exercises or teaching perspectives. The audience for these teaching notes should primarily be directed towards faculty teaching business law in business schools or undergraduate business programs. Teaching note manuscripts should include well-developed exercises, with clear instructions and rationales for using these exercises. If similar exercises or perspectives have been previously published by the journal, authors are expected to explain how their teaching note contributes as an extension of the pedagogical literature.

GENERAL GUIDELINES
The journal does not accept previously published manuscripts or those that will be published elsewhere. Manuscripts may be sent simultaneously to other journals on the condition that the journal is advised, and that the author(s) undertake to inform the editor-in-chief and managing editor immediately if the work is to be published elsewhere.

Editorial and Peer Review Process

The JLSE operates under a double-blind peer review model. Papers will only be sent to review if the Editor-in-Chief determines that the paper meets the appropriate quality and relevance requirements. In-house submissions, i.e. papers authored by Editors or Editorial Board members of the title, will be sent to Editors unaffiliated with the author or institution and monitored carefully to ensure there is no peer review bias. Articles editors assist at various stages of the process.
This journal follows the core practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and handles cases of research and publication misconduct accordingly (https://publicationethics.org/core-practices). This journal uses iThenticate’s CrossCheck software to detect instances of overlapping and similar text in submitted manuscripts.
